Demo Work Begins

Posted in Development

We have begun development on our demo and are quite excited to bring you some small updates today. The world of Neithus has been completed for the demo and we have started to design the separate continents.

Some of the choices that we have had to make in regards to the world of Neithus has been interesting and at times daunting. The main aspect that we have focused on these past few weeks is the terrain itself. We want the players to have a sense of realism, and this includes creating a seamless world both in the terrain itself and the textures.

Adding in seamless textures has been fun though a long process. Adding in new textures and then adjusting them to make sure you have the best visual experience possible has been long but more then worth while. We cannot wait to show you more later on.

The decisions of art assets for the terrain has been and is still an ongoing project. We want to fill the world and make it as life like as possible, however, with that as our goal, we must also keep in mind you, the players, computer systems and how well it will run. We do not want to over tax your systems, even if the final product will not be released for another couple years.

Keeping performance in mind, we have adjusted several of our models to have less polys in the models themselves so that the performance will have a larger boost. This means less latency or lag while you are exploring the world. More detail has gone into our textures then anything and with the special lighting and shadows we will be using in game, you should not notice a difference. This will give us a higher quality looking object whether it is a cup, a player vault or just a rock.
